Inviting all staff and faculty: Virtual town hall

Williams staff and faculty,

With everyone working remotely or coming to campus on rotation, it’s even more important than usual that we (President Mandel and Provost Love) and our fellow administrators regularly share what’s happening at Williams. Recently, a number of people on campus have asked how decisions will be made about an eventual reopening, and about how we’re managing the pandemic’s financial impacts to protect jobs and the school’s mission. All of you have been doing extraordinary work, and we want to support you by providing up-to-date information on these and other topics whenever possible.

As one step toward that goal, we’re pleased to share a new video in which the two of us share the latest thinking about the college’s continuity and financial planning efforts. After that, we invite you to submit questions for a virtual town hall forum, 9-10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, open to all staff and faculty. We’ll welcome questions until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, and then use the results to identify topics of broad interest, so we can share information on those subjects during the forum.

Look for details, including login instructions, in a followup email soon. You’ll be able to join by video or phone, or to watch a recording or read the transcript afterward. We hope this helps people connect in a time of relative isolation, and to stay informed. Please help us prepare for a successful event by submitting the most pressing questions on your minds. You may do so anonymously if you wish.

In the meantime, enjoy these early days of spring in the Purple Valley! We assume it’s challenging for you, as it is for us, to limit social activities as the weather improves. The two of us want to thank everyone for remaining vigilant, keeping our community healthy and enabling us all to work toward reconvening, just as soon as it’s safe to do so.

Sincerely,

Maud and Dukes
