To the Williams community,
I write with sad news that retired custodian Wolfgang Peters passed away on Tuesday, April 20, at Berkshire Medical Center. He was 87.
Born in Pausin, Germany, he attended schools there before coming to the United States as a young man. A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he worked at Williams from 1984 until his retirement in 1998. Friends and family shared that he enjoyed collecting stamps and was a member of the Mohawk Stamp Club. A lover of nature, his hobbies also included bird watching, gardening and photography. He also took great pleasure in having coffee with friends and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son, Walter, and two brothers, Alfred and Walter. He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; daughters, Linda and Mary; son, Michael; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service for Wolfgang Peters will be held in Southview Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Clarksburg VFW in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals-Central Chapel in North Adams.
