The Passing of Stephen Alcombright

To the Williams community,

It is my duty to share the sad news that retired staff member Stephen Alcombright passed away on January 22 at his home in North Adams. He was a custodian at the college for more than 10 years before he retired in 2006.

Born in North Adams, he attended local schools, and then worked for nearly two decades at the General Electric Company. Active in the local community, he was a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program through Elder Services of Berkshire County, Inc. Those who knew Stephen well remember his love for his family and how much he enjoyed fishing with his two grandchildren. He is also remembered as a loyal Red Sox fan, an avid reader and an old movie buff.

He was predeceased by his sister Beverly; brothers John and Richard; and half-brother James. He is survived by his daughter Ann; sons Stephen and Philip; grandchildren Marinna and McKenna; and half-brother Alan.

A private graveside service will be held for the family.

Our thoughts are with Stephen’s colleagues, family, and friends.

Sincerely,
