The Passing of Sally Bird

To the Williams Community,

I am deeply shocked and saddened to report that Sally Bird, administrative coordinator of faculty affairs, died today in Boston while awaiting the most recent test results for her son, Tanner, who is battling cancer.

Sally herself had bravely struggled for years through her own serious health challenges and then her son’s. Words fail to convey our admiration for her then and our sadness now.

Since 1980 she has played important roles in the daily functioning of the college, and for the last 20 years in the Dean of the Faculty’s Office, she’s supported countless individual faculty in their work.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends. We will pass on information about arrangements when they’re known.
