The Passing of Jean Zabek

To the Williams community,

It is my sad duty to share the news that retired student medical services secretary Jean Zabek passed away on Thursday, March 5, at Williamstown Commons. She was 76.

Born and raised in Adams, she came to Williams in 1985 and served the Health Services Office in a variety of secretarial and administrative roles until her retirement in 2007. A lifelong learner, while working at Williams she earned her B.A. in psychology from North Adams State College, now MCLA, graduating summa cum laude. Known for her steadfast commitment to her work, she served as the office’s first line of communication with the students and parents, a role that she greatly enjoyed.

She was predeceased by her former husband, Edmund Zabek, and brother, David Starsiak. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer, and several cousins.

A graveside funeral service arranged by Paciorek Funeral Home will be held in the spring at Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. For more information, and to leave a message of condolence, visit www.paciorekfuneral.com.

Our thoughts are with Jean’s family, colleagues, and friends.

Sincerely,
