To the Williams Community,
It is with great sadness that we learned this week of the passing of one of our employees. Bob Spofford passed away Dec. 1 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. He worked for Williams for 33 years.
Bob held many positions during his time at Williams. Starting in 1982, he was hired into what was then called the Steamfitter Shop and worked there until 1984, when he accepted a transfer to the Paint Shop. He worked in the Paint Shop until 2003, when he transferred to the Preventive Maintenance Mechanic discipline.
In all these positions, Bob was known for displaying a meticulous level of workmanship. In his free time, he loved to hunt, fish and had a particular passion for trap and skeet shooting. He was a dedicated member of the Stamford Sportsman’s Club for more than 30 years. He also belonged to the Hendrick Hudson Fish and Game Club. Bob loved cars and motorcycles, and his knowledge and appreciation of wine was second to none. I’m told that you could always count on Bob for a good glass of wine, great conversation, and a sampling of excellent food.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carol; his mother, Doris, of Clarksburg; two brothers, James and his companion, Janet Zappula of Clarksburg, and Daniel and his wife Lisa of Jensen Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Tricia Beach and her husband Larry of Clarksburg, and Susan Spofford of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; his sister-in-law Barbara Burke and her husband Michael of Loudonville, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces, and cousins.
Calling hours will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. in Adams. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 25 Hoosac St. in Adams. Burial will follow at Southview Cemetery in North Adams. Memorial donations may be made to Pop Cares, PO Box 482, Williamstown, MA, 01267, or to the Stamford Sportsman Club, in care of David Fierro, 5131 Main Rd., Stamford, VT, 05352.
Our thoughts are with Carol and all of Bob’s family.
Regards,
Adam Falk
