The Passing of Carolyn Oakes

To the Williams community,

Once again, we are saddened this week to learn of a retiree who recently passedaway. Carolyn Oakes, who worked at the college from 1989 to 1997 as a custodian, died on Nov. 10 in North Adams.

For a time, Carolyn worked in the old Sawyer Library, and then later as a custodian in Stetson Hall.

Carolyn leaves two daughters, Sharon E. Oakes and husband James Bua of Monroe, Massachusetts, and Kelley Spadafora of Merritt Island, Florida. She also leaves a son, Russell and his wife Helen of Monroe, Massachusetts, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Carolyn is planned for this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals West Chapels, 521 W. Main St. in North Adams.

Our thoughts are with Carolyn’s family and friends.

Regards,
